About Georgia

The Preserve at Crooked Creek is a deed restricted community in NE Georgia and bordering Western North Carolina. Located off Crooked Creek Road, just 5 miles from Hiawassee and Young Harris and only 4 miles from Lake Chatuge and Brasstown Valley Resort. The Preserve at Crooked Creek has been designed and developed to take advantage of the natural terrain to provide ideal home sites with stunning scenic views including Brasstown Bald.

No need for 4 wheel drive vehicles as the slopes are gentle and the roads are very easy to navigate.

The Community

Towns County is in the northeast corner of Georgia where summers are warm and winters serenely beautiful and is as rich in natural beauty as when the Cherokees roamed the land. Leisure and recreation opportunities abound. Visitors can enjoy authentic mountain music, arts crafts, fine dining and resort facilities. Young Harris is the home to Young Harris College and even has a vineyard.

Of the 106,240 acres of land in Towns County, the Chattahoochee National forest covers over 57,000 and another 7,000 is owned by the Tennessee Valley Authorities and afford recreational opportunities and economic benefits.

The Preserve at Crooked Creek is approximately 4 miles from Lake Chatuge a 7,500 acre lake with over 130 miles of shore line – a haven for boaters, fishermen and skiers. Marinas and public boat docks provide easy access to the lake.

Sports enthusiasts can also enjoy mountain biking, tennis, horseback riding and swimming at a nearby lakeside beach. Visitors are welcome at most local golf courses including Brasstown Valley, Chatuge Shores and The Ridges at Mountain Harbor.

Hiawassee holds three yearly festivals including the Rhododendron and Bluegrass Festival in May and the Georgia Mountain fair in July. Several “super star concerts” with nationally known country music starts are held and attract over 200,000 visitors annually.

Brasstown Bald can be seen from most lots in The Preserve at Crooked Creek and is Georgia’s highest point at 4,784 feet. The observation deck provides breathtaking views of 4 states along with a mountain top theatre. Brasstown Bald, for the last 3 years, has been a finishing point for one of the stages of the Tour de Georgia.

Within a 2 hour drive of Atlanta this area is growing very fast both as a second home destination and with baby bookers looking to retire. Very popular with Floridians looking to escape humid summers and hurricanes.

The Development

The Preserve at Crooked Creek is in the main gentle rolling pasture land with 2 creeks running though it together with a lake and an area of hardwoods. Entrance is off Crooked Creek Road and meanders over a stream and through a tree lined entrance before reaching the clubhouse located on the right hand side. Go past the clubhouse and up a slight incline to a wooded area and the beginning of just 86 exclusive home sites.
